What has Ronnie used for Harmonies?

I thought I read an interview a long time ago where Ronnie said that he used something from BOSS to do harmonies. I'm thinking this was before they ever came out with the pedals that do harmonies. This must have been around the time Intuition came out because that was when I really started getting into TNT.

I personally think he played them all t
rack by track and stacked the harmonies up that way. I could be wrong!! But I havent seen him use effects live to do that.

He is so good at putting harmonies in and in just the right places too. A genius!!

I think Brian May was an influence with Ronni's harmonies.

Cheers

Well, I wouldn't doubt that. But the question is, what did he use live. I actually think this may have been quite a while after Intuition came out that I read this interview. I may just have to go thru my guitars magazines and try to find it. But if I remember right, he really didn't say what specific model he was using, Just the brand. I'd just be curious to try whatever it was to see if it was any good at doing harmonies. I know it's not likely that any low-priced unit would be very good at that, but I can't afford an Eventide. I have a Digitech DHP-33 which is very inconsistent. I also used to own a DHP-55. Neither unit was very good and they don't don't do basic harmonies. The 33 only does 3 part harmonies, although you can kind of mess with it and make it do 2 part ones. The people who designed the software are total morons.

I can confirm now that he definately played all the harmonies on the albums himself. There were hundreds of tracks on the song Wisdom.
As far as live I don't think he uses effects either. There maybe keyboard parts that harmonise with the guitar.

I found the article. Never would have found it except for a search on Google that told me which magazine to look for. Thank goodness. Anyway, it was the 1987 edition of Guitar World with Mark Knopfler on the cover with a baby blue background. I'll quote the entire paragraph here:

"For effects," says Ronni, "I have a rack with an electronic patch system. It enables me to hook all my effects into two channels of the sound mixer. I have a couple of Boss Harmonizers- I tried the Eventide, but for the difference in price it didn't sound much better- a Roland 3000 reverb unit, a CryBaby wah and a DeltaLab digital delay."

I believe this was the year before Eventide came out with the H3000, so my guess would be that the unit he tried probably wasn't all that great. As for what these Boss units would have been from 1987, I can't really imagine. Probably nothing all that great. Probably just the kind of thing that does 3rd's and 5th's. Non-intelligent harmonizing. Something any cheap effects rack can do. Oh well. Time to start saving to get my very own Eclipse.
