I found the article. Never would have found it except for a search on Google that told me which magazine to look for. Thank goodness. Anyway, it was the 1987 edition of Guitar World with Mark Knopfler on the cover with a baby blue background. I'll quote the entire paragraph here:
"For effects," says Ronni, "I have a rack with an electronic patch system. It enables me to hook all my effects into two channels of the sound mixer. I have a couple of Boss Harmonizers- I tried the Eventide, but for the difference in price it didn't sound much better- a Roland 3000 reverb unit, a CryBaby wah and a DeltaLab digital delay."
I believe this was the year before Eventide came out with the H3000, so my guess would be that the unit he tried probably wasn't all that great. As for what these Boss units would have been from 1987, I can't really imagine. Probably nothing all that great. Probably just the kind of thing that does 3rd's and 5th's. Non-intelligent harmonizing. Something any cheap effects rack can do. Oh well. Time to start saving to get my very own Eclipse. |
