Hi.
I got my first bassguitar when I was 11, still learning...that would be..oh what the hell..31 years of "playing".. Shocked

Played in a lot of bands in Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland since then... Cool

At the moment I play a Fender Jazz Bass -62 reissue and Hartke or Ampeg amps..favorite players..Morty (of course), Phil Lynott, Steve Priest, Sami Yaffa, Lemmy...to mention a few..

Any other bassplayers on the board?

Hi !!have only played for 2 years..started when i was 22 Shocked ..
Right now i have a dean dime o flame mlf and epiphone zakk wylde
(with emg 85 & 81)
and a randall rh100sc g2 combo and a marshall mg ministack

thinking about selling the zakk one and buying a rg 550/560 or something..
fav players : dimebag, ronnie, randy rhoads, nuno bettencourt, zakk wylde, mick mars and john norum..the list could go on..i like players that really have their own style...
It does not have to be really tecknical players like dream theater style or something as long as it's catchy and stuff..no like shredders that plays the same scale the whole time..

Hello. I live in the Detroit MI area. I've been playing for 23 years now. Ronni has been a huge influence. Great taste, tone, and technique. I used to listened to alot of shredding instrumental stuff, but I would have to say overall, my biggest influences have been more feel players. Ronni, Leslie West, Jeff Beck, Warren Haynes, Gary Moore.
Ronni's sound has floored me since I first heard him on Knights. I strive for that vocal midrange lead tone. Been using a Soldano HR50 for about ten years now, but I am switching to a 5150 and a Randall RM 4 preamp, for more versatility. I regulary rotate our songs on our Myspace page.

I would love to hear more about Ronni's amps.

I belive Ronnis current amps are Marshall JMP from -85,propably modified.
He even modifies the interior of his speakerstacks-I think.
He also uses a set of boss pedals live + a wah ofcourse and a tape echo.
This is what I`ve seen live-in the studio he sure has access to hundreds of secret gadgets.. Wink

From live pictures I gather the three Boss pedals are
- OD-1 Overdrive
- BF-2 Flanger
- CE-2 Chorus

For live performances we often see his Roland RE-150 Space Echo Tape Delay, a Dunlop CryBaby and a Digitech Whammy II.

Back on topic, I have an Ibanez S-270 which I used to plug through a Zoom 3000, in to a mixer and out on studio speakers. These days I use a Line6 UX2 hooked directly into the PC and patch the output directly into Pro Tools, and send the groovy sound to said studio speakers. Nothing loud, but that ain't often required... Smile

Im 33 arrggggg ........ getting old now.

My guitars are
Ibanez universe 7 string
ESP 7 string
Jackson proffesional
Kramer ferrington electric/acoustic

Gear

POD XT with footboard

A guitar rack with

Alesis quadreverb effects unit
ADA mp1
ADA power amp
Boss compressor/ noise gate
Korg tuner (knight rider looking light on it!)

Marshall 4x12 speaker cabinet

I have been playing guitar now for about 16 years.

I started off wanting to play bass because I thought i would never be able to play chords or play fast!

I ended up getting a guitar! (Phew!!!)

My favourite bands and players are

Ronni
TNT
Vagabond

T-Ride obscure but amazing self titled album featuring Jeff Tyson on guitar (really rythmnic and different)

Dream Theater

Nuno Bettencourt
Extreme

Extol (Norwegian band)

George Lynch
Dokken
Lynch Mob

Dimebag Darrell
Pantera

And countless others

I have played in

Mainstream american metal sounding bands

A technical Deathmetal band (Really heavy loads of wierd timings etc)

I did a one off Jazz improvisational gig. (although cant really play Jazz very
well, just played all the wrong notes and pulled a face as if I was supposed to!!!)

I have sessioned for people, but not really in a proffesional set-up, more helping friends I know.

I just love music, I love melodic, shredding, querky unpredictable guitar playing.
Thats why Ronni is my favourite.

Hes given me geat fun trying to work out how the heck he is doing stuff in the days when I had no live videos or tabulature (pre internet days)

Things are a bit easier today thank goodness.

I love learning from everybody I see play and see guitar playing as a great fun and not something to have an ego about!

There you go a "little" it about me!!

Hello Robbierob

I have never owned a JMP1 but I have heard them played through and they sound fantastic.

Big fat chunky sound!

Its difficult to say wether an amp sounds good, because it may get the tone I like but not what you would like. If you know what I mean!

If I am right the JMP-1 was Marshalls answer to the ADA mp-1.

It is midi compatable isn't it?

I have the ADA and it sounds great too.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

hello,I`ve been playing guitar for about 25 years, and I love it..
I have a fender stratocaster with seymur duncan picks..I use a marshall jcm 900..4x12" and 50 watts top.
I dont use any effects-box,cause they are stealing a little bit of the great marshall-pressure and sound.I use only a crybaby wah wah.
Cool

Hi guys, I'm 15 and I come form "down under" in Norway, and in case you did not notice I'm a girl. I've played guitar for about 2-3 years now I think. Before that I played keyboard, and I still do. I have a Joe Perry Boneyard LP, and a Morgan strat and ac guitar AND amp..well the amp lives it's own life, so I'm looking for a new, any recomendations?(marshall seems to be the favourite here) My dream is to one day own a Fender, I've ben that close too many times...

The guys who inspired me to pick up the guitar was Slash, Richie Sambora and Tekrø himself.

There you have it, a littlebit about me, and my english is not perfect, beware!

I bought myself a Behringer GM212 V-Tone, it's not a Marshall, but I like it, and the value for money is excellent. I'd check out that type of amp as well as the more "classic" types. It might suit your needs just as well.

I've been playing since I was ten years old, so I've been playing guitar for gasps 34 yrs. Actually haven't improved much over 27 yrs. Shocked

I have too many guitars:
Fender strat floydrose
Kramer strat floydrose I custom painted it glow-in-the-dark
Lado strat floydrose w/gk2a
Ibanez 7 string strat floydrose
Epiphone SG G-400
Mann custon strat
Takamine 12 string electric/acoustic
Lado electric/acoustic
Yamaha classical
Lado StratPaul strung high action for slide
Vantage 5 string bass

Synths:
K2500xs fully loaded 88 weighted key sampling synth workstation
Roland JV1080
Roland U-20
Roland GR-1

Rack/Effects:
Behringer ub2442fx mixer
Behringer feedback destroyer (for vocals in my apartment)
Alesis 3630 compressor x2
Alesis M-EQ 230 31 band EQ
Korg SDD-2000 delay
ADA MP1
GT-8 multifx
GT-5 multifx

Amps:
Fender Twin w/talkbox (I mostly use my studio monitors)

I love far too many bands/artist to list, my favorites are a combination of Hard rock and easy listening.
TNT
Riot
Extreme
Ozzy
Thin Lizzy
Pat Travers
Saga
MSG
Dream Theater
Motley Crue
Bowie
Queen
Elton

When I first listened to Ronni it was the Tell No Tales cd and the emotion/feel of the solo in "Child's Play" just captivated me to hear more. (Kinda like musical addiction) Along with the vocal talents of TH I feel that TNT are one of rocks finest recording/touring acts.
